$60.00 user/month, paid yearly, on an annual commitment. That is up from $57.00, a 5% increase Microsoft applied on July 1, 2026. The plan gained capability on the same date, so it is not a like-for-like increase.

What E5 gained at the same time
E5 also gets everything on the Microsoft 365 E3 addition list.
Rollout began in June 2026. Customers receive at least 30 days notice in Message Center before the change reaches their tenant, with rollout complete by August 1, 2026. Existing customers remain on current pricing until renewal, so the price and the capability can arrive at different times. E3 buyers get the same list from the other side on Microsoft 365 E3.

Outside security
If the driver is a compliance regime or an insider-risk program then the Purview rows decide it. If it is endpoint coverage then the plan tiers do. Microsoft security covers those suites on their own. The tier above this one is Microsoft 365 E7.
Is Microsoft Security Copilot included in Microsoft 365 E5?
Yes. It comes with monthly capacity rather than just an entitlement. Security Copilot was one of the four capabilities added to E5 in the summer 2026 packaging update.

Customers with Microsoft 365 E5 and E7 receive 400 Security Compute Units (SCUs) for every 1,000 paid user licenses at no additional cost each month, up to 10,000 SCUs per month.

The grant is stated per 1,000 paid user licenses, so it scales with seat count rather than sitting flat per tenant.
The capability the SCUs attach to is agentic AI in Security Copilot, listed on this page under AI and optimization features. E7 carries the same allowance, so SCUs on their own are not a reason to move up a tier. Microsoft 365 E7 has that breakdown.
